Top 100 world server... just!
3rd rank in Oz, (at the time of this post) think it might be the highest posi we have gained in the Oz rankings? http://www.gametracker.com/search/dayz/AU/?=GO
Also with more promises of security/private hive updates coming soon they have suckered me into rolling over the server another month... etc... so will postpone a temporary shutdown at least a month then review as required.

Server hosting price has dropped back $11 a month, but appears only way to get the cheaper price is let the current BT drop out and start a new server up.
Will mean some loss in gametracker ranking but if it saves money worth it I think... and we can rebuild!

Just found a "persistence on" addon - going to install it on BT2 asap and test..

Have a backup option so done a clean backup (on the new server) and after testing will try and do regular backups/restores as needed etc... expect server crashes though!...

Set it with a 6hr restart, although not had much success with that in the past, so will see how it goes. Also appears like most servers lately they are restarting and crashing all over the place!

I found the whitelist server by putting the ip in direct. It is listed as running version 49.0 not version 49.124972. Might be the reason it is not showing on the server list.

The server is also listed as public not private although I believe it is private as I was a fresh spawn when I joined. Also the zombies are not responding to players they just stand there.

Waiting to find it and test the whitelist setup, not put myself on the list yet so it should spit me out when trying to join? and yeah all characters will be new on it, being a Master shard server, means character and server info will be
unique to the server.

At the time of this post the new server reset back to a wrong version and will not work. It still does not display on the main server lists and still displays as a public server.
I put a mild rocket-ticket to Vilayer including setting our old server to cancel at the end of its current cycle. If they do not sort this out fully in the next 24hrs, I intend to cut all ties with Vilayer and cease running any DayZ clan servers for some time.
We can revisit hosting DayZ when the game 'at least' reaches a Beta stage in the future? if it ever reaches that stage.
In any case not that happy paying $122/m for a top of the range overpriced server, when the AI/Zombies are disabled and not attacking, this games development is a year old and this sort of crap is going on still? never mind all the other ongoing bugs, lack of development and 'coming soon' failures...

Disappointing but totally understandable, putting my logical head on it doesn't make sense to pay that kind of money for a server most people who are donating don't use. Still a pity though as it was a big recruiting tool, I wouldn't have found my way here without the server. I'm going to dabble in a few games while they sort their shit out.

If the following do not happen before the next bill cycle for this server, it will be closed (and at this stage I don't plan to run another DayZ server till the game is into solid Beta)
1. Working Tents are in the game.
2. Working Vehicle/s is/are in the game.
3. We get more whitelist applications and significant server activity to justify the expense.

Not a hope of getting all that m8, experimental is a good guideline and no mention of vehicles any time soon. The Whitelist server would have needed to be a long term experiment as its a slow burner to try and build up the numbers for a decent experience. As for tents they may be in the game now, just that nobody can find them lol

I would like to say I'm enjoying the Beyond Thunderdome server, being able to explore without worrying about idiots is refreshing. Keep up the good work Rev, I'm enjoying it and reading up on everyones opinions. Hope to catch up and get to know as many of the clan in the up coming months.

Trying to stash stuff doesn't work, I had stored heaps of spare ammo, guns and food and it stayed for 2 or 3 days then disappeared

Toying with a mild roleplaying-whitelist server.
Rough concept: All general players are regarded as 'Chernarus Citizens'.
A Chernarus Police Department (CPD) will be established. Criminals may be declared as Bandits by the CPD and thus hunted by CPD officers. Citizens may register to become a recognised 'Bounty Hunter' and hunt Bandits for CPD 'Bounties'. Only CPD appointed officers will be permitted to wear and carry specific items (ie Police uniforms and other listed items/uniforms etc...), harsh penalties apply to Citizens and Bandits breaching such Roleplaying rules.
*May also setup up an outright Police v Rebels type roleplay, you apply to one or the other or remain a citizen? not sure yet, reviewing different setups...
Rough draft is under development. Want to keep it simple, where mfp members and other general whitelisted players can apply to join the CPD, or play doing their own thing (maybe becoming hoarders, or being self appointed Zombie slayers etc...) or go rouge/ solo or form their own Bandit groups etc... Become a Bounty Hunter working for CPD contracts alone or with other Bounty hunters etc... etc...
Again don't want to complicate it, but thought it might be fun to test out a little basic roleplaying and we will setup relevant TS channels etc...
